Martin Kinnear on his next solo show Landscapes of the North and why we always go back to our roots
I'd like to invite you to a very special show of my new, old work . New Old ? This is a show of what I wanted to learn to paint when I decided to become a painter in 2000, and while I don't show much traditional work these days I certainly paint a lot of it as part of my day job as a tutor. I've been painting these for years because as an artist - the subject always chooses you.
Landscapes of The North is my love letter to the amazing - you might say Divine - light of the Dales around my studio, and I'll be showing and selling a range of absolutely new canvasses inspired by 'God's Own Country' - North Yorkshire.
I'll be showing a number of significant new works all inspired by the weather and light of the Dales around my studio. All are absolutely new works and available to purchase directly from the gallery, making this the first opportunity to buy my signature traditional landscapes since 2007.
The show is on from 12- 31 of October at the upper Gallery at Tennants Garden Rooms, where I'll be holding a special live painting demonstration at 10am on the 21st of October.
